This polygon shapefile represents populated place areas within the United States that include both incorporated places and census designated places identified by the U.S. Census Bureau. Data are represented at 1:100,000 scale. This layer is part of the 2014 ESRI Data and Maps collection for ArcGIS 10.2. U.S. Populated Place Areas provides areal locations for populated places including fields—name, FIPS code, census class, area, and selected demographic data from the U.S. Census.
