Double hemisphere map inset of the world with California depicted as an island. The countries are labeled Japhet, Cham and Sem, the names of the sons of Noah. Hemispheres are 8.3 cm. in diameter. Other insets include: The area around Rome; Greece; Palestine; the Sinai; and “Fata Troianorum” showing scenes from the Trojan Wars. Above the chronology are scenes and people from the Bible including Adam and Eve, Noah, and Methuselah. Second title above the chronology: ATLAS HISTORICUS. Main title written on a banner surrounding the earth upon which Father Time is leaning. Two women sit on the cloud above him holding a shield showing four men, each depicting a continent. The banner below the shield reads: In Magnes Et Volvesse Sat Est. Georg Daniel Heumann Noribergensis Sculpsit. (lower left). “A.” and “Aa.” (upper left, above border). Issued in his: Atlas Historicus ... Frankfurt, 1718. Possibly reissued in 1751.
