This is the first printed map of whole of Russian Empire printed in Russia and is the first reasonably accurate map of Russian Empire. It is also the first printed cartographic record of Bering's first expedition. St. Lawrence Island marks the first apperance of any part of Alaska on a printed map. Relief shown pictorially. Latitudinal and longitudinal lines. Prime meridian: Saaremaa Island, Estonia. Coordinates approximate and based on Greenwich meridian. 3 Bar scales on map, given in "Verst," "mill. Ger." and "mill. Gall." Shows topography, waterways, vegetation, routes. Decorative cartouches with figures. Dedication: Clementiae et Felicitati Augustae Votum Solvit Russia Magna. Title in Cyrillic script and Latin; place names in Latin.
