- Abstract
- New York City Bus Routes, 1998 is a line theme representing Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) bus routes in New York City as of 1998. Ridership statistics are included in the Route attributes. Statistics are for Average Weekday, Average Saturday, Average Sunday, and Annual Totals. Data also include the route name, number ID, type, headway, vehicle capacity, vehicles per hour, total capacity and fare. Information was obtained from the New York City Transit Authority. Files are provided in the projection NAD83 to align with the NYCMap basemap. The realigned data has not been thoroughly checked for accuracy. The 1998 file is provided as a historical reference.
- Purpose
- The original New York City bus route and station data were intended to register reasonably well with existing NYC Department of City Planning base map data, e.g. the LION file or the tax block map. ComCarto has adjusted alignment to the NYCMap base. A new dataset was released in 2007 depicting routes as of 2004.
- Supplemental Information
- See the accompanying Excel file bus_ridership.xls for original ridership statistics, including "other" categories per borough. Ridership data is not available for all routes. Some routes have been combined or split over time.
