Abstract
This is a scanned version of the paper map entitled: Java, Madura Bali 1:250,000 published by the United States. Army Map Service. This map consists of twenty one sheets, the online linkage file provides the index sheet and a polygon layer that serves an index for downloading the other twenty sheets. To download the map sheets using this index in ArcMap, add the layer, open the layer properties dialog, select the display tab, and check the "support hyperlinks using field" box while selecting the URL field in the dropdown menu. Then use the hyperlinks tool to select the polygon representing the desired tile. These map sheets were scanned at 300 dots per inch and are in the TIFF format.
Purpose
Scanned maps may be used for a variety of purposes. These images may be used in a GIS.

20 col. maps. 45-52 x 45 cm. Standard map series designation: Series T521 Scale 1:250,000. Complete in 20 sheets. Set includes various editions and issues of some sheets. "Polyconic projection." Military grid. "Contour interval 100 meters." First ed. gives heights in feet with contour interval of 250 or 500 feet. Five classes of roads or trails, four classes of railroads, various types of air fields, and three types of internal boundaries are shown. Index to place names on these maps is issued by U.S. Board on Geographical names under title: Gazetteer to maps of Java, Madura and Bali. "Glossary" included on 2d- edition.
