Collection Title
LeadDog creates and maintains GIS street and road network maps for Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Africa, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. LeadDog also offers GIS and postcode maps for virtually every country in the world. LeadDog mapping efforts focus on international locations where quality maps typically do not exist. LeadDog has a unique and open approach to map creation, allowing cost-effective mapping for virtually any part of the world. LeadDog map products are created to the same specification across cities and countries. The results are maps that have the same look, feel, and function whether they are for Baghdad, Tijuana, or Casablanca.

Abstract
Pakistan division boundary. This LeadDog dataset is released Semi-Annually.
Purpose
LeadDog products are used in a variety of applications that require accurate and comprehensive GIS street and road centerline maps. LeadDog data products are widely used for routing, geocoding, asset-tracking, and site selection by the government, the military, and private security companies. LeadDog provides a topologically connected network of streets and roads to support routing. In areas where attributes are scarce, basic geometry based routing is supported. In areas where attributes are more complete, more advanced routing using both geometry and attributes describing one-way streets, ramps, etc., is supported. Attributes are empty for many road and street segments, due to scarce information in remote countries and regions. LeadDog is constantly working to collect and fill in missing information.
Supplemental Information
LeadDog provides street and road map GIS layers through two basic products: 1) Major Roads and 2) City Streets. Together, the two products provide a navigable network of streets and roads for a given country that can be used for routing. Major Roads product layers are derived from 1:250,000 scale imagery and cover an entire country. City Streets product layers are derived from 1:10,000 scale high resolution imagery and are generally compiled on a city by city basis. For example, for the country of Afghanistan, LeadDog provides a set of Major Roads layers for the entire country and, for each major city, a set of City Streets layers. Both the Major Roads and City Streets product layers contain Streets Roads, Points of Interest, Railroads, Airports, City/Town/Place, Linear and Polygon Water features, National Boundaries, Provinces and Urban Areas. In addition, the Major Roads product contains District/Municipality Boundaries and the City Streets product contains Parks/LandUse and Neighborhoods. The number and type of layers may vary by country, for both Major Roads layers and City Streets layers. LeadDog data files are initially packaged as ESRI ShapeFiles and use a country, major roads, layer name folder and file organizing convention for the country-wide Major Roads data and a country, city name, layer folder and file organizating convention for the City Streets data. For example, the afghanistan_p folder will contain a single major_roads folder, containing all country-wide layers, and for each city, e.g., Kabul, Kandahar, etc., the afghanistan_p folder will contain a separate subfolder, each containing specific city-wide layers. As such, each LeadDog filename is unique. When packaged as SDE or GeoDatabase layers, this same convention is used. LeadDog uses two ShapeFile and layer naming schemes. With the first method, each City Streets ShapeFile or layer has a root name built using three parts including 1) city abbreviation, 2) country code, and 3) layer abbreviation, e.g., kabuafst, for Kabul, Afghanistan, Streets, and each Major Roads ShapeFile or layer has a root name with two parts as 1) country code and 2) layer abbreviation, e.g., afst, for Afghanistan Streets. With the second method, for City Streets, an additional country code prefix and city abbreviation are added to the root name as described in method one above, e.g., af_kabul_kabuafst, for Afghanistan, Kabul, Streets. For Major Roads layers, the second method simply adds a country code prefix, e.g., af_afst, for Afghanistan, Streets. There are a small number of exceptions to this folder/file organizing scheme. For additional information, visit LeadDog's website at www.goleaddog.com, which provides an on-line map based data finder and viewer, information for PostCodes data products, and full descriptions and previews of LeadDog datasets by continent and country. LeadDog also provides worldwide Landclass and Contour datasets. In addition LeadDog partners with iMaptools (www.iMaptools.com) to provide a number of GIS data and software applications (iEnterprise) including Routing (iDrivingDirections), Reverse Geocoding (iReverseGeo), and GIS Data Web Servers (iMapServer).

Data Quality Information
Logical Consistency Report
LeadDog quality assurance involves compilation, checking, and cross-referencing information and feedback from a variety of government, commercial, non-commercial, and end user sources.
Completeness Report
LeadDog attributes generally include all publically available information. In some cases, attributes are not available. For example, official street names do not exist for many parts of the Middle East and Africa. LeadDog is continually researching new information available for layers with missing attributes and includes new information in semi-annual updates.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
LeadDog Major Roads products are derived from a combination of high and low resolution imagery as well as topographic maps in a minority of cases. The spatial accuracy is 5 - 40 meters.
