- Abstract
- This GIS polygon feature data set was developed for Mercer County, New Jersey, USA, and contains tax parcels. The parcels were originally created using DVRPC digital orthophotgraphy at a scale of 1"=200' and scanned taxed maps which were geo-referenced to the digital orthophotography. Several update cycles of the parcel layer have been conducted, with the most recent referencing the 2007 orthophotography from the New Jersey State office of GIS.
- Purpose
- The purpose of this polygon feature data set is to assist Mercer County Departments.This data set was created to provide the bounding limits for each lot extent, based on the municipality's tax maps. The parcels become the means by which parcel ownership may be linked to tax assessor's data using block and lot attributes. Once linked, the user may retrieve ownership information through queries. The parcels may be used for display purposes when creating hard copy maps for reports, presentations, and working projects. This data set provides one of the key framework data sets in an overall GIS implementation strategy.
