Abstract
This polygon data layer represents land use for Brown County, Wisconsin in 2009. [The Brown County Planning Commission conducts a countywide land use inventory every decade. Fieldwork for the most recent inventory was completed in June 2001 and updated periodically since. Using this data, the various land use categories were generalized, broken down by acreage.The existing land use feature class is a compiled version of all the land use inventory done during the comprehensive planning phases (2001-2007).]
Purpose
This layer is intended for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The purpose of the existing land use feature class is to have an updated version of the existing land use for GIS analysis.]
Supplemental Information
This metadata was updated in fall of 2017 to reflect that the data is no longer restricted and has been opened for public use. Augmented original metadata with UW-Madison specific elements.
