For many of us, trees are simply in the background of everyday life. We don’t think about them much unless perhaps we need some relief from the sun or if they need to be pruned away from a roof.We believe trees deserve a bit more recognition. Not only do trees provide environmental and economic benefits to our community, they are living artifacts that inspire us with their unique forms and enduring presence. Thanks to a grant from the Bock Foundation, the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC), State Cartographer’s Office, Dane County Tree Board, and Urban Tree Alliance teamed up to create an interactive map that lets anyone document a remarkable tree.
