- [This feature class contains the location of farmland preservation areas as designated in farmland preservation plans that have been certified by DATCP since July 1, 2009. This feature class was created by DATCP by standardizing and aggregating data submitted by counties as part of the farmland preservation plan certification process. This feature class was last updated January 2019.]
- Purpose
- [This feature class contains the location of farmland preservation areas as designated in farmland preservation plans that have been certified by DATCP since July 1, 2009. All counties must update their farmland preservation plans and the plans must identify the farmland preservation areas that the county plans to preserve for agricultural use. These areas cannot be planned for non-agricultural development within 15 years of the date the department certifies the plan. Land that is planned for farmland preservation may participate in other aspects of the farmland preservation program, including farmland preservation zoning and agricultural enterprise areas.
