- This data represents zoning for Sauk County, Wisconsin in 2023 and includes the layers 'Sauk_Airport_2023,' 'Sauk_General_2023,' and 'Sauk_Shoreland_2023.' [AIRPORT: The purpose of this data is to regulate the use of property and restrict the height of structures and growth within the designated vicinity of the Tri-County Regional Airport.GENERAL: This feature class is used to maintain and display the current zoning information in the Sauk County GIS. Zoning Districts are administered by Sauk County for all Towns except the Town of Fairfield, Town of Delton, Town of Merrimac, and the Town of Washington.SHORELAND: "Shoreland” means lands within the following distances from the ordinary high water mark of navigable waters: 1,000 feet from a lake, pond, or flowage; and 300 feet from a river or stream or to the landward side of the floodplain, whichever distance is greater.]
- Purpose
- This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [AIRPORT: Sauk County Code of Ordinances: Chapter 41 Airport Zoning Ordinance for the Tri-County Regional Airport. The purpose of the Tri-County airport zoning ordinance is to regulate the use of property and restrict the height of structures and growth within the designated vicinity of the Tri-County Regional Airport to protect the health, safety, convenience, general welfare, and safety of the public and property in connection with the use and operation of the Airport. The ordinance is meant to implement the Airport Master Plan and comply with state and federal regulations pertaining to safety. The ordinance has also been adopted by Iowa and Richland counties GENERAL: This layer maintains boundaries that separate lands specified for different uses. It helps to prevent businesses from starting up in residential areas and keeps industrial activities in more suitable areas, for example. The map information is provided in support of a request for certification of a farmland preservation zoning ordinance. SHORELAND: Sauk County Code of Ordinances: Chapter 8 Shoreland Protection. Shoreland protection zoning is adopted pursuant to the authorization contained in Wis. Stat. § 59.692 to implement Wis. Stat. §§59.692 and 281.31 to promote and protect the public health, safety, convenience, and general welfare, and to promote and protect the public trust in navigable waters. This ordinance applies to all land located within unincorporated areas of Sauk County.]
